Film Synopsis

It was a true-life lesson in corruption. Dr. Frank Tassone was a smooth, charismatic Superintendent whose leadership guided Roslyn High School to the highest levels of education. He also happened to be part of an $11 million embezzling scheme that rocked the upscale Long Island town. Hugh Jackman stars as Tassone with Allison Janney as his business manager and colleague in crime as they coordinated the biggest public-school embezzlement in American history--which would be uncovered by a tenacious young reporter with the high-school newspaper. Co-starring Ray Romano and Geraldine Viswanathan. Directed by Cory Finley; written by Mike Makowsky who was a student at Roslyn during the scandal; based on the New York magazine article "The Bad Superintendent" by Robert Kolker.

This is a solid video presentation that seems a perfect match for this kind of film. Skin tones appear spot-on and black levels are perfectly deep. Overall, this is a good-looking picture.

Audio

5.1 Surround. How does it sound? I thought the film served the source material well and sounded amazing. Dialogue on the center speaker is clear. Surrounds don’t do much for this film.

Special Features
 • Based On A True Story - A short featurette on the film complete with interviews

 • The Perception Of Perfection - A featurette on Frank (the real person and the character in the film played by Hugh Jackman).

Loved this film! Great script, direction and fantastic acting. Hugh Jackman delivers an Award-winning performance, Allison Janney is amazing.  Interesting story of corruption  in an underfunded education field.  I can't say a bad thing about this movie.  I have seen this film 3 times this year (twice on HBO and now this DVD).  I have recommended this film to friends and they have phased my choice.  There is no doubt that this is one of the best movies of this year. This is one worth seeing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
