Whose team are you on: Godzilla or Kong?
It’s hard to believe that the MonsterVerse has been going for a decade now, starting back with 2014’s Godzilla. Since then, there have been four more films and two television series detailing the escapades of some of cinema’s most legendary titans. The franchise started off with a darker tone that immediately hooked me, with Godzilla’s Jaws-esque approach to revealing the famous kaiju and it’s mystery surrounding the titans, and the Vietnam War inspired Kong: Skull Island which wins the title of being the most violently brutal yet visually stunning film of the series. Since then, the tone has become more family friendly, but the monster mayhem has not stopped for a second. From legendary showdowns and team ups, some memorable human characters and many who just were collateral damage in the titan’s wake, in celebration of the newest film in the series Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the ten year anniversary of the franchise, here is my ranking of the live action projects in the MonsterVerse (I still need to check out the animated Skull Island series on Netflix):
