ISLANDS - Inside the Opening Night of the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival

The landmark 25th Anniversary Edition of the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (November 10-19) kicks off with a special red carpet presentation of Toronto based, Filipino-Canadian writer/director Martin Edralin's acclaimed Award-winning feature ISLANDS. Following its world premiere at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival, the film was awarded a Special Jury Recognition for Breakthrough Performance for star Rogelio Balagtas. ISLANDS follows Joshua, a shy middle-aged Filipino immigrant who has lived in the comfort of his parents' Scarborough home his entire life. When their health declines, he begins to long for a partner.
