Film Synopsis

Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation.

Video

'Snowpiercer: Season 1' is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition in the original television broadcast aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The picture quality is impressive, with rich colors and nice detail. Colors are often subdued and overcast for most of the show. The standout color scenes were the first class side of the train which were much brighter.

Audio

The release features a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound presentation. The audio track is excellent, making extensive use of the surround channels. Dialogue is crisp and clear and mostly comes through the centre channel. Bear McCreary who produced the score for the show does an excellent job in setting the tone for the show.

Overall Reaction

TNT’s 'Snowpiercer TV series' is based on the 2013 film of the same name and the original French graphic novels. Warner Bros’ Blu-ray release looks and sounds amazing.  The release contains about 18 minutes of behind-the-scenes promotional featurettes with the cast and filmmakers. I thoroughly enjoyed this first season of the show and cannot wait for Season 2 which will premiere on January 25. This release comes Highly Recommended!
