After their beloved doorman, Lester, dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia. Only Murders in the Building continues its reign as one of television’s best comedies with its fifth season once again featuring the brilliant comedic energy of its lead trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, with a more focused narrative that makes the latest case one of the series best investigations to date!

At this point, if you haven’t been enjoying the sensational trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez on Only Murders in the Building, you have been missing one of the best television series of the decade. What started off as a small murder mystery television series has grown into a sensational magnet for incredible talent in front of the camera, with this season featuring a staggering five Academy Award winning actors in supporting roles who are along for this murderous ride and contributing to the uncontrollable laughter that has defined this series. But whereas the previous two seasons reached for the stars in its scope and developed mysteries far larger than the Arconia itself, the latest season returns to the series’ fundamentals and in doing so, develops a strong mystery that delivers an exceptional mystery that gives great material to the entire cast to work with, ensuring that there won’t be any shortage of laughter or gasps with each startling revelation that will keep both viewers and Charles, Oliver and Mabel on their toes as to the identity of the murderer.

After the far reaching scale of the series’ third and fourth season with the limelight of Broadway and Hollywood, Only Murders in the Building is returning back to basics with its latest mystery. Rooted in the history of the Arconia, this season’s mystery is riveting and full of so many twists and turns, suspects and even bodies, certain to keep audiences on their toes and theorizing who is responsible for the murder of Lester. It’s everything audiences love about a good murder mystery, with the wacky comedy that has become the heart and soul of this television series, while giving strong character arcs to Charles, Oliver and Mabel as they begin to find themselves at a crossroads in life. The result is a truly outstanding season of Only Murders in the Building that blends mystery, danger, hilarious comedy and nonstop entertaining that makes it one of most addictive seasons of the show… and that is without having seen the finale and finding out who the killer is!

If you have been watching any of Only Murders in the Building up to this point, you know that Martin, Short and Gomez are the best trio currently on television, and that has not changed in the fifth season. The three of them are absolutely spectacular as a trio with their explosive comedic chemistry and infectious energy that brings the show to life and makes this series must watch television. Returning this season are Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Michael Cyril Creighton, Jackie Hoffman, Richard Kind, and many more, and all of them are excellent, especially Streep who continues to shine as Loretta. Though, it is the new cast members joining this season that make it an exciting watch. Christoph Waltz, Renée Zellweger and Logan Lerman are deliciously mysterious as three individuals with a shared secret connected to the Arconia that put them in the middle of Charles, Oliver and Mabel’s investigation, Dianne Wiest’s comedic timing is a wonderful addition that fits perfectly into the zany nature of the series, while Téa Leoni, Beanie Feldstein, Keegan-Michael Key and Bobby Cannavale are all great additions to build the mystery and laughs of the season. If the series continues to add such talent every season like they have with this fifth season, there is no question that Only Murders in the Building could run another five seasons as watching such talented actors play in this sandbox is highly addictive.

Even without having seen the final episodes of the season and seeing the big reveal of who Lester’s killer is, and despite the many theories swirling around my head, there is no question that this latest season of Only Murders in the Building is one of the series’ best seasons yet. Never short on the outrageously funny comedic moments that lets the chemistry of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez shine while developing an exciting murder mystery full of numerous suspects, twists and turns and shocking revelations that constantly change the murder board, Only Murders in the Building continues its reign as one of television’s best current comedies as it spins an engaging story that returns the series to its gold standard.
