VIFF 2025 brings a full line up with big premieres to come to the festival!

VIFF has revealed its full program for the 44th edition, running October 2 to 12. Discover 170 features and 100 shorts from around the world at the festival’s 44th edition. The festival will also include insightful talkbacks, conferences, live performances, and other special events. Nearly 130 titles at VIFF 2025 will have premiere statuses, including 26 world premieres.
The event will open with Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, a dramatization of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless, and close with Ido Fluk’s Köln 75, which tells the story behind Keith Jarrett’s legendary concert. Pianist Chris Gestrin will perform live as part of the closing gala.
Taking centre stage will be the Canadian premieres of a number of films by renowned, international directors. They include the new Noah Baumbach film Jay Kelly, a coming-of-age tale about a famous movie actor that stars a number of famous movie actors (George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern and Greta Gerwig are on the billing) and Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother, a comedy drama anthology with Adam Driver and Cate Blanchett that follows the reunion of long estranged siblings.
The extensive lineup will be screened at 10 venues across the city, including two new cultural partnership locations at the Granville Island Stage (Arts Club Theatre Company) and the Alliance Française.
